In a nation of one billion people, you would expect to have some fairly talented poker players but China's latest prodigy is just ten years old.
Pint-sized Zhang Xinyang, a ten-year-old student at Tianjin University of Technology and Education, enjoys playing poker to relax away from his studies.
However, rather than play with kids his own age, Zhang prefers to challenge his university "peers", most of whom are approaching their 20s, according to onlinepoker-news.
So, is the little guy a future Robert Varkonyi or Pete 'The Beat' Giordano? Well, industry figures seem to think that all depends on how he develops as a player.
At the ripe age of ten, Zhang still has quite a few years before he can legally play poker for money and with a university degree to contend with, his priorities may well lie elsewhere.
But given that he is currently ranked third academically in his class and is beating people twice his age with ease it would seem Zhang Xinyang is a name to look out for in future poker events.
