An intriguing event took place over the weekend placing some of poker's biggest stars against rivals from the world of American football and baseball.

On the weekend that the Pittsburgh Steelers won Super Bowl XL, football stars such as Dan Marino and John Elway as well as baseball star Roger Clemens were taking on poker's very own champs.

The 2006 Legends Celebrity Invitational Poker Tournament was hosted by the legendary sports trio and took place at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, according to online-pokernews.

Big name poker players such as Doyle and Todd Brunson were involved as were Phil Ivey, Eric Lindgren, Jennifer Harman, Barry Greenstein, Johnny Chan, and Chris Moneymaker, among others.

The game was No-Limit Texas Hold 'em and featured a $2,500 buy-in as well as throngs of media lining the red carpets. All the participants succeeded in raising around $25,000 for charity.
