There is huge room for the expansion of poker in the online gaming industry particularly, in Europe, according to a new survey.
A company called Research and Markets has launched a study of online poker, which has found some interesting results with regard to the gaming industry.
Called Online Poker - Driving Gambling to New Heights, the survey underlines its belief of the future dominance of poker in the online gaming market.
In support of this assertion, the report cites information such as the fact that in 2005 the amount gambled on poker websites around the world is estimated to be more than $60 million.
On top of this, more than 60 per cent of industry experts feel that poker will be the dominant offering in online gaming in the next two to three years.
The report's authors wrote: "What began as triumphant advance in the US is now leading to a global poker wave on the internet with tremendous potential."
Interestingly, the study stated that Europe may benefit most from the huge expansion of poker with 52 per cent of experts saying the European continent offers the greatest potential.
