NASCAR and WSOP team up champs

2006-03-08 15:30:00

Jeff Gordon, the NASCAR champion, has teamed up with a World Series of Poker (WSOP) champion to help raise money for charity.

The racer plans to host a celebrity poker tournament as well as an online auction to raise money for the Jeff Gordon Foundation, which was created in 1999 to help support children's development.

He plans to get all the celebrities involved to donate their winnings to charity as well as donating some autographed memorabilia to help fundraising.

And none other than 2003 WSOP champion Chris Moneymaker will be helping the four-time NASCAR champ in his effort to do so.

Gordon has planned a No-Limit Texas Hold 'em tournament as well as the auction and the most valuable item to go under the hammer will be a full-size WSOP poker table signed by both men.

A full-size car bonnet from the movie Racing Stripes, signed by a number of stars including Dustin Hoffman and Steve Harvey, will also go on sale.
