Poker DVD roots out cheats

2006-04-04 16:30:00

A new instructional DVD has been launched that aims to educate poker players about ways to protect themselves from becoming victims of card cheats.

Cheating at Hold’em (The Essentials) explains how poker players can implement a range of simple counter measures if they are concerned that they are being scammed.

The rules of Texas Hold'em poker are clearly set but the vast majority of games can be cheated, leading Double George to develop a new weapon for the general public against poker scams.

Texas Hold'em has become incredibly popular in the United States and has attracted a significant number of cheats. The DVD outlines easily implemented precautions to put in change to protect a game from being compromised.

Double George chairman, David Malek, said: "Believe it or not, more money is stolen in private poker games by so called "friends" than is ever stolen in a casino. However, if you know what to look for and how to protect against it, you become a far more sophisticated player."

The developers claim that the DVD can teach anyone to shuffle, cut, and deal a fair game within ten minutes and how to detect sleight-of-hand manoeuvres. The DVD illustrates various scams, exposing and discussing them in detail, including 'peeking', 'flashing', 'second dealing', 'marked cards' and 'check copping'.
