Mobile users opting for poker

Mobile users are increasingly choosing to download and play poker games on their hi-tech phones.

Mirroring the ongoing growth of the online poker industry, consumers are now opting to take advantage of the increasing availability of poker games on their mobiles.

A recent Deck Monitoring Report highlighted how creators of mobile phone games ensure the popularity of their product by getting it a top deck slot.

The report indicated that 20 per cent of US providers' top deck slots are filled by poker games.

And on top of this, all four of the major mobile phone platforms – Cingular, Verizon, Sprint Nextel and T – Mobile – all have a minimum of two poker titles in their top 15 chart games. Three out of the four carriers also have a minimum of one title in their featured deck.

In total, 17 per cent of all mobile game revenue in the US is made up by card and casino games and the average game price stands at $3.85.
