Two high-profile charity poker tournaments are taking place in the United States.

The two-day Second Annual Bluff City Texas Hold 'Em Open starts on May 20th and proceeds will go to United Cerebral Palsy of the Mid-South.

Taking place at the Grand Casino in Tunica, Mississippi, the contest has a $100 buy in and prizes include two seats to the World Series of Poker Championship in Las Vegas, according to PokerNews.com.

Meanwhile, west coast poker pros will be heading to the White Lotus Club in Hollywood, California, on May 24th for the Full Tilt Bad Beat On Cancer Fundraiser.

Hosted by Phil Gordon, a board member of the Cancer Research and Prevention Foundation, players will also be treated to music, entertainment and a live auction featuring the chance to take on Annie Duke or Howard Lederer in a Heads Up poker match.

Other US celebrities expected to attend the event include Hank Azaria, Cheryl Burke, Shannon Elizabeth, Alfonso Ribeiro and Dave Foley.

Charities are increasingly realising that poker tournaments provide a great opportunity to raise money and attracts star names, with last year's Annual Bluff City Texas Hold 'Em Open the largest ever charitable poker tournament in the US, attracting 500 players to two tournaments.
