The National Heads Up Poker Championship ends this weekend, with the semi-final matchups and the best two of three Championship Tournament taking place on Sunday.

Broadcast on US television station NBC, the contest has run over six weeks and May 21st marks the culmination of the annual event, with some of the game's top names taking part, including Phil Hellmuth, Johnny Chan, Doyle Brunson and Jennifer Tilly.

Chris "Jesus" Ferguson and 1996 World Champion Huck Seed come head-to-head for one of the semi finals, with Ted Forrest and Shawn "Sheiky" Sheikhan pitched against one another for the second.

The no limit Texas hold 'em showdown tournament has proved a smash hit on NBC this season, beating almost all other Sunday night sports in the ratings, and the station has already announced that the 2007 contest will take place next May.

The National Heads-Up Poker Championship is in its second season. A total of 64 of the best poker players in the US have taken part in the competition, with the games broadcast on national TV.
