Poker professional Antonio 'The Magician' Esfandiari has unveiled his latest book, In The Money.
The book is the third in the World Poker Tour book series and offers insights into the world of No Limit Hold Em cash games, covering all styles of poker - heads up, shorthanded and at a full table.
Interviewed by Poker News, Esfandiari said that he wanted people to think while they were reading the book, rather than following a "set in stone strategy", and had opted for a more "psychological approach" than those used in other books.
The top player used to work cash games in casinos around San Francisco and is using his experience to advise other players about how to be successful in internet and casino ring games.
Esfandiari won the World Poker Tour title and a World Series of Poker bracelet in 2004 and has co-written In The Money with David Apostolico. He will attend this year's World Series of Poker tournament and plans to focus on "as many of the No-Limit Hold 'Em events as possible" in the lead up to the main event.
He advises players: "By playing poker all the time you also will guarantee that you will play better, definitely. It's not like you completely forget the game if you don't, but you have a better game when it is working well and you're playing frequently.
Esfandiari claims that he was only able to get a small proportion of his ideas into the book and is likely to do another one at some stage in the future, possibly a "complete guide to No-Limit poker".
He has also had three cameos in films recently, a part in new movie Deal, is working on a DVD on how to avoid being cheated at poker and has development deals with FunEnergyFoods.com and PokerTek.
