Poland's World Cup team has enjoyed considerable success in the Poker World Cup, that is.
Despite no success in the football World Cup 2006, Poland went all the way on Poker's very own world stage by beating the US to win the title.
Beginning in April, the poker World Cup involved over 39 nations competing for the accolade of best poker playing country.
And one of the Polish online qualifiers, Jacek Ladny, took the US team captain Joe Harwell to the cleaners winning first prize with an ace and a six of spades.
Phillip Hilm, a European Poker Tour regular, said: "None of these guys have played in a big tournament before but they were very consistent and performed very well.
"Everyone made a contribution but it took a great final call by Jacek to clinch victory. The USA Team was playing very aggressively and he read the situation perfectly."
