This week's Vegas Open poker tournament is set to make television history.
The event, which comprises ten tournaments, all open to the public, is thought to be the first poker event to be broadcast in high definition.
Each tournament has a buy-in of an attractive $1,060, with the tournament winners invited to a semi-final heads up match, from which the leading five will battle it out on the final table for the $100 000 prize.
The entire event, which takes place at Caesars Palace, will be documented in 13 high definition episodes on INHD and is the first of a number of international tournaments that will allow small-stake players the opportunity to win big
"We envision the Vegas Open becoming one of the major arenas for players to make a name for themselves, without the requirement of huge bankrolls or sponsorships," commented Nene Gonzalez, the National Poker League's president.
"We're giving players the opportunity to make some noise and, in the process, become a television star."
It is hoped the coverage will appeal to a young audience, keen to make their way in the poker world.
