Heart monitors for poker players

It has often been said that a tense game of poker can get the blood pumping, but now technology is being used to prove the point.

A television program to be broadcast by Fox Sports is to provide its viewers with more detail than simply the usual commentary into poker faces.

As well as looking at the players' faces to try to glean an inkling into their thinking, Poker Dome Challenge will enable viewers to see players' heart rates!

"These people are bare naked," commented the program's executive producer John Faratzis.

Mr Faratzis added that it would be interesting to see how the heart monitors relate to their facial expressions.

He explained: "You get to find out: How astute a competitor are they? Can they mask that? Or are they truly a calm individual?"
