First ever WSOP bracelet for Pescatori

2006-07-11 15:45:00

Max 'The Italian Pirate' Pescatori has won his first World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet.

Following his home nation of Italy winning the 2006 World Cup Final, Pescatori soon had something of his own to celebrate as he beat all other finalists in the $2,500 No-Limit event.

Pescatori beat 1,290 other players to get to the last table and face the eight other finalists.

The Italian Pirate told the crowd: "This has been the greatest day of my life. First, Italy wins the World Cup and then I come here and take the greatest prize in poker."

Among the finalists he had to beat was Anthony Reategui – who won a WSOP bracelet last year – after he took him on in some aggressive heads-up play.

After six hours of poker, both players went all in with the Italian Pirate emerging victorious.
