A 21-year student has become the youngest-ever winner of a World Series of Poker (WSOP) event, according to reports.
Jeff Madsen, currently studying to be a film director in Los Angeles, had to borrow money from his parents to afford the buy-in fee for the WSOP event held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino on Sunday night, reports AP.
At the tender age of just 21 years, one month and nine days old, Madsen has become the youngest-ever player to win a WSOP bracelet.
He took the spoils in the $2,000 buy-in No Limit Hold'Em event and in doing so, outlasted 1,578 other players and won himself $660,948 in the process.
The youngest previous winner of a WSOP bracelet was Eric Froehlich who won one aged 21 years, three months and three days old.
Madsen, was delighted with his win, and said getting his parents on side was the main challenge. He said: "I convinced them that I was going to play well. They're happy about it now."
