Hellmuth bags 10th WSOP bracelet

2006-07-26 14:50:00

Phil Hellmuth, the self-styled poker brat, has won his tenth World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet.

He joins an exclusive club of poker pros who have taken their WSOP bracelet wins into double figures, with Doyle Brunson and Johnny Chan the only others to do so.

Hellmuth also netted himself an impressive winning jackpot of $631,863 at the Rio All Suite & Casino WSOP event on Wednesday morning.

Making his mark in the poker record books is not an unknown feat for Hellmuth as he became the first pro to reach a half century of in-the-money finishes earlier in the year.

He won his first WSOP bracelet at the tender age of 24 back in 1989 and has since gone on to record four hall of fame titles. Other Hellmuth accolades include a Golden Nugget NBC National Heads-Up Poker tournament win and victory at the World's Biggest Seven-card Stud Tournament in Vienna at Casinos Austria.
