Harry 'Wise Owl' Demetriou, the English poker pro who was ejected from this year's World Series of Poker (WSOP), has spoken out over the matter.
Demtriou was ejected from the $2,000 buy-in event 25 after he lost his temper and began haranguing officials and shouting at a floor person following a rule disagreement, reports PokerNews.
Demtriou said he raised the issue following the removal of four chip stacks form each table thus turning the game he was playing into a six-handed shoot-out.
He said: "That was a drastic change from the structure as published and I asked for a floor person to come over because I was not happy with this dramatic change.
"He [a WSOP senior executive] got the rules sheet out and it wasn't clear in their rules.
"He acknowledged that they made a mistake in evicting me and asked if I wanted to be reinstated or have my money back. I told them I could not support the event and asked for my money back, which they gave me."
Demetriou has met with the WSOP commissioner Jeffrey Pollack and the subject of a player's consultation booth was raised as a means to improve communication channels between officials and players.
