Chris (Jesus) Ferguson came back from the dead twice during the first round of play at the World Series of Poker (WSOP)
Twice the poker professional was close to going out of the tournament before miracle cards got him out of what looked tricky situations, reports the Associated Press.
In one exchange, Ferguson, all-in holding two kings, was facing an early exit before a third king showed up on the fourth turn, giving him an unlikely full house.
"At least I can say Jesus Ferguson sucked me out," said Robert Ozeran, who was on the receiving end of the pro's good luck
"I've been all-in with the worst hand and won both times," said Ferguson.
"I'm willing to get my money in on a coin flip."
Ferguson, who won the main title in 2000, acknowledged that on both occasions his odds were lower than 50-50 but that fortune was on his side.
Now Ferguson heads in to the second round with over $80,000 worth of chips to do battle with.
