This year's first prize for the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event will be in the region of $12 million, according to reports.
The record-breaking first prize will serve as a juicy centerpiece to this year's WSOP &ndash especially given that last year's first prize for the main event was just $7.5 million in comparison.
And while the WSOP winner is in for a $12 million win, runners up in this year's tournaments will bag themselves a considerable $1 million each.
On top of this, the last surviving 873 players will benefit from "in the money" finishes &ndash each winning $14,597 for their buy-in fee of $10,000.
Jeffrey Pollack, WSOP commissioner, said: "This World Series of Poker stands out as the best in the tournament's illustrious 37-year history.
"Never before have so many people from around the world competed for so much prize money and the honour of winning the most coveted prize in all of poker &ndash the World Series of Poker champion's bracelet."
