WPT sees revenues boom

2006-08-07 09:50:00

The World Poker Tour (WPT) has announced revenue increases of 67 per cent this week.

Company CEO Steve Lipscomb stated he was pleased with the company's second quarter results which totaled $11 million.

This profit was a 67 per cent increase on the $6.6 million second quarter profit for 2005, which Lipscomb attributed to the ten new episodes of Season IV of the WPT televised tournament series and also nine episodes of the first season of the Professional Poker Tour (PPT).

On top of these figures, net earnings for the quarter were $2.6 million &ndash around 12 cents per share &ndash which was favorable to the net loss of $0.4 million for the same period the year before.

Mr Lipscomb said: "We are pleased with the continued progress we are making, particularly in our core television business where we delivered a combined 19 World Poker Tour and Professional Poker Tour episodes this quarter."

WPT is predicting third quarter revenues of between the $5.5 to $6 million range.
