After two weeks of play, the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event is down to just two players.
Some 8,778 began the Las Vegas event but only two remain after some aggressive play on the final table saw the last nine competitors whittled down to Jamie Gold and
Paul Wasicka by 03:00 this morning in the Nevada desert.
Gold, with $78,975,000 is well ahead of his opponent in the chip count, as Wasicka holds $11,225,000, but with the heads up variety of the game far different from the group version, it is not all over.
Michael Binger finished up third, after holding out until the early hours of the morning, leaving him with a handy $4,123,310 paycheck.
The only non-American of the final group was Swede Eric Friberg, who finished eighth and $1,979,189 the richer.
Gold's aggressive, daring play has been rewarded with some good cards that could well see him join the select list of WSOP Main Event winners.
