Xbox to get poker game

2006-08-21 16:38:00

Poker fans will be able to get their hands on a version of the game for the Xbox later this week.

Microsoft will be launching its Texas Hold'em game on the Xbox Live Arcade site from Wednesday and will allow Gold and Silver members to download the game for free during the first 48 hours.

The game is expected to offer players both tournaments and ring games to play in as well as providing a number of other scenarios to enjoy with other players and friends from around the world.

Microsoft hopes players will look upon the game as a fine learning tool to use before playing for real money and has designed the game to offer a challenge to even the most experienced of players.

In an attempt to prevent gamers from betting their virtual money too recklessly, a running bankroll will be linked to each character, meaning players who have lost it all will have to start again in small stake games.

From 08:01 GMT on Friday August 25th the game will only be available in exchange for 800 Microsoft Points.
