Ivy League graduate Alex Jacobs picked up the first major title of his career over the weekend when winning the 2006 United States Poker Main Event.
The 22-year-old took home $878,500 after defeating some 260 players over five days of play at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City.
In what is only his first year of playing events, Jacobs has accumulated over $1.6 million in prize money.
His previous best showing was a second place at the World Poker Tour Foxwoods Poker Classic Main Event in April, which netted him $655,507 - more than enough to provide his $10,000 entry for this US champs.
Other notable performances have included two final-table showings at the World Series of Poker this summer and four other finishes in the money.
The Yale man beat Jordan Morgan in to second place, who took home his largest ever pay packet of $405,072.
