NBC has announced a new late-night poker star, beginning early in the new year.
Poker After Dark will feature six seasoned professionals fighting for a cool $120,000 pot; an hour-long show will go out each weeknight, with the final stages and the winner revealed each Friday night.
The show, presented by actress and model Shana Hiatt, is pitched as a behind-the-scenes look into the games, tactics and pressures of poker's highest rollers.
"There's a vibrant late night audience looking for original programming," according to Marc Graboff, president of NBC's west coast division.
"We felt this inside look at the professional poker scene is perfect for late night television and those viewers seeking an unique and original broadcast," he added.
As with a wide range of other poker TV shows, this one will feature the popular and unpredictable Texas hold 'em style.
The Saturday night show will each week be dedicated to an overview of the week's crucial plays, with the winner picking over his strategy and breaking the game down for viewers.
