Poker Patriots formed to defend the game in the US

Poker Patriots has been created to organise the fight against the US law that essentially outlawed online poker in the United States.

The recent passing of the SAFE Port Act in the United States has inspired many groups like the Poker Patriots to mobilize their protest against the ban.

Poker Patriots has accused the US government of "protectionism" disguised as morality through their online gambling ban, so by incriminating banks and credit card companies that take online poker company payments.

Online poker enthusiasts are outraged at the breach of individual rights and freedoms implied in the bill and Poker Patriots was created as a direct response to that outrage, hoping to organise the collective response.

Poker Patriots has set up a resource for poker activists to find the tools, training, resources and support network to fight the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act attached to the SAFE Port Act.

Hank Tamerlane and Doug Savoy are the brains behind the operation, and are appealing to the online gambling community for support and collective action.

" Freedom. Fairness. Security. The recent arrests and the ban on transactions have forced the most reputable, licensed, publicly-traded companies out of the market," they said on their website.

"But poker players play poker - they'll find a way to play. So as the industry goes further underground, players will be more unprotected than ever."
