Canadian data centre to help licensees

2006-11-02 15:49:04

Online gambling has received a boost from Canadian authorities, who have revealed plans to open a new data centre offering superior internet facilities.

Reacting to the recent US gambling ban, the data centre's high speeds and uncapped bandwidth are intended to make it ideal for websites wanting to attract customers not only from the US, but also from Asia and Europe.

The move comes just one day after the announcement regarding the launch of a new Canadian online gambling jurisdiction. Both the jurisdiction and the data facility are projects of the Alexander First Nation from Alberta, Canada.

The centre will be managed by a new company specifically set up to deal with the issue, Alexander Internet Technologies. Special back-up software will ensure that any server crashes do not result in the loss of a player's game or money earned.

The Alexander First Nation has promised responsible regulation for companies that are granted licenses to operate under its sovereignty.

The jurisdiction of the tribe has as its basic principles the provisions that games must be fair to the players and winnings must be paid, guaranteeing a reliable experience for the online gambler.
