WPT announces Father and Sons TV special

The World Poker Tour (WPT) has said that it is beginning development of a new televised poker series to be held at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut.

The Fathers and Sons tournament will feature a number of famous names and their relatives, including Doyle Bronson and son, Michael Simon and father, and Barry Greenstein and son.

Well-known duo Vince Van Patten and father Dick will also be participating in the event, which sees the relatives play in pairs until the tournament goes heads-up when one father and son remain, with a $25,000 seat at the WPT World Championship up for grabs.

Meanwhile, female poker players have been staking their own claims at the current WPT event, as Mimi Tran and Kathy Liebert compete in the WPT Main Event Championship &ndash the first time two women have made it to the final table.

"Mimi Tran has made some big final tables in other events and we're very excited to have her make one of ours. And Kathy is the number one WPT ladies champion so we are happy to have her back," said WPT spokeswoman Kat Cowal.
