European poker finals set for Paris

The Euro Finals of Poker (EFOP) is set to celebrate its tenth birthday with this year's tournament, which will be held in Paris and feature British players once again battling to come on out top.
Last year saw the UK's Julian Thew and Marc Goodwin put in good performances at the main event as they challenged eventual winner Alexandre Nowak all the way, but UK competitors will be hoping to improve on the pair's 3rd and 5th positions at the 2006 finals.
Held at the Aviation Club on the famous Champs Elysees avenue, the event runs from December 4th to December 20th, and features tournaments ranging from Omaha to Horse.
The main event is the £1,700 buy-in Diamond Championship, a Texas Hold'Em tournament that seems sure to attract the best players on the continent, many of whom will also be in attendance for the presentation of the European Poker Awards.
The nominations for the awards were announced earlier this week, with Roland de Wolfe favourite to triumph.
