A young British musician has scooped $100,000 after winning a major online poker tournament.
David Tighe, 23, claimed the PartyPoker.com Late Night Poker Masters crown, beating an array of amateurs and professionals.
The young musician from Nottingham ended up going head-to-head with another part-time player, Swede Simon Ehne, and emerged triumphant after seeing off a field including 'Cowboy' Kenna James, 'Hendon mobster' Barny Boatman and 'Flying Dutchman' Marcel Luske.
Ehne was also much-fancied having emerged on the poker scene in recent months, but it was Tighe who clinched the $100,000 prize.
Mr Tighe said he was heartened after seeing the professionals were beatable, but added he had been "a little apprehensive about taking on these big names".
"On the final table I found Boatman a very tough opponent," he added.
Tighe says he is now planning to go full-time with his poker playing and says he plans to compete in "a lot more tournaments".
