Online poker 'safe from legal challenge'

2006-12-20 15:39:24

The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) does not make playing online poker illegal, Poker Management reported today.

The online management solution company claims that the UIGEA only applies to forms of gambling which were illegal before this law's introduction.

Under the new law, internet gaming companies are not able to accept transactions from players if the state they are playing in does not allow gambling.

US businesses are no longer permitted to process the gains or losses from online gambling.

As a result larger gambling businesses listed on the alternative investment market of the London Stock Exchange were forced to pull out of the American market in October, sustaining some losses.

However, Poker Management claims it has found a loop-hole in the law which allows people to play together in private groups.

So that they can continue to provide online poker, gaming companies are now offering membership-based poker rooms which do not involve the exchange of money.

These packages are entirely legal to buy and will ensure the future gaming fun of online poker players and protect the success of the industry.
