An Australian poker ace has won over $2 million after triumphing in the second biggest poker tournament in the world, it has been revealed.
Joe Hachem scooped the big-money prize earlier this week at the famous Bellagio Hotel Casino in the World Poker Tour (WPT) Five Diamond event.
In winning the competition, Hachem secured himself a piece of poker history. Having already won the world's biggest tournament, the World Series of Poker (WSOP), in 2005, Hachem now becomes one of a select few to have won both the WPT and WSOP main events.
At the time of his 2005 win, Hachem was an amateur player, but winning the $10 million prize changed that. His latest win came as he beat out a field of almost 600 players, winning with a hand of Ace-Six against runner-up Paul Hanna.
"He's very emotional, very humble and over the moon," brother Tony Hachem said, speaking to the Australian Associated Press.
