Organisers announce 2007 WSOP schedule

Organisers of the 2007 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas have announced this year's schedule.

The 38th edition of Las Vegas tounament, which kicks off on June 1st, offers 55 bracelet events with buy-ins of up to $50,000 (£25,000).

New features this year include a $2,500 (£1,250) horse event, $5,000 (£2,500) Mixed Hold'Em events and a $5,000 (£2,500) Heads-up No-Limit Hold'Em World Championship.

In total, nine events have been added to the 2006 26-event schedule &ndash which generated a total prize pool of $171 million (£85 million).

Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack said: "The 2007 schedule offers something for everyone."
He added: "As part of our commitment to innovate for the benefit of all players, we've added nine bracelet events and created more opportunities for both amateurs and professionals to win poker's most coveted prize."

World champion Jamie Gold was among more than 870 players who won money in the 2006 WSOP Main Event.
