The success of online poker has largely been down to the spread of Texas Hold'Em, which has captured the imagination of operators and players alike, but a new report has highlighted some of the other options open to poker players.
Although Texas Hold'Em firmly established as the poker variant of choice in both the big tournaments and major film blockbusters such as Casino Royale, players nonetheless have the opportunity to branch out into different versions.
Games such as Omaha hi-lo and Omaha Eight are still found in all the major offline and online poker venues, including Las Vegas' Mirage, Bellagio and Wynn casino complexes, and leading online venues such as InterPoker.com.
Now the PokerNews website has suggested that shrewd players looking to increase their earnings should turn to Omaha for their poker fix.
General unfamiliarity with the Omaha variant means that online novices are of a much lower standard than those just starting out at Texas Hold'Em, spelling good news for those players who have learnt to master the game.
Omaha players are also set to benefit from the recently announced World Series of Poker schedule, which this year includes new Omaha games in its line-up.
