Hansen triumphs at Aussie Millions

Danish professional Gus Hansen has emerged as the winner of the lucrative Aussie Millions tournament, fighting off stiff competition from online star Jimmy Fricke.
Fricke had led the tournament going in to the final day, having put the skills learned at online casinos to highly effective use. But the end result saw Hansen walk away with the $1.5 million prize, with Fricke taking home $1 million.
The heads-up confrontation had begun with Fricke holding three times as many chips as Hansen, but the professional eventually secured the win with a pair of pocket aces.
The event, held at the Crown Casino in Melbourne, originally featured 747 players, including celebrities such as Australian tennis star Mark Philippoussis, and gave away a prize pool of $7.5 million.
Hansen is the only player to have won three World Poker Tour (WPT) open tournaments, though his success at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) has thus far been extremely limited.
