National Poker League announces 2007 tour

The National Poker League (NPL) has announced details of its 2007 Global Circuit Tour, with the events set to begin on May 13th.
The Cercle Gaillon Casino in Paris will host the first event of the season, with further events to follow set to include four World Cups, each of which will be screened on television.
The World Cups will take the form of the UK Open in August, the Asia Open in October and the Vegas Open in November, as part of the NPL's efforts to reach a global audience.
"NPL is not an American or European tour, it's a true worldwide poker circuit open to everyone," commented NPL vice president of poker operations Edna Dalton.
NPL wants to redefine the tour. As a strong advocate of poker, we feel it's no longer a game but an established sport," she added.
The Paris event will be a $4,000 buy-in tournament. The Cercle Gaillon will hope to successfully rival the city's Aviation Club, home to another global event, the World Poker Tour.
