A new poker school featuring some of the game's most famous names has been launched in the US, aiming to prepare players for future glory in the World Series of Poker (WSOP).
The WSOP Academy will feature tuition from the likes of Phil Hellmuth, Joe Hachem and Joe Navarro, with the course concluding with a three day event ending the day before the WSOP 2007 main event begins.
Lectures will take place in April and June in Indiana and Las Vegas respectively, with handbooks and workshops also featuring as part of the package.
"School is in session at the World Series of Poker Academy. Our new academy is a tremendous value. Participants will learn from the best minds in poker and have a chance to win a seat in the 2007 WSOP main event," said WSOP commissioner Jeffrey Pollack.
"If you want to learn the basics or master the game, the WSOP Academy is for you," Pollack said.
The WSOP began in 1969 as an invitation-only event, but within a few years began the expansion that saw its top prize reach $12 million in 2006.
