WSOP pre-registration opens

2007-03-01 15:52:32

Pre-registration has begun for the biggest event on the poker calendar, the 2007 World Series of Poker.

From February 26th players have been able to sign up in preparation for the high-stakes event, which last year featured a top prize of $12 million.

A new introduction to the service is a casino chip representing the $10,000 buy-in fee, which organisers say will likely be used as an easy means of payment for players who qualify via online casinos.

Sites such as InterPoker.com have already launched their offers for the 2007 event, with competitor winners able to claim both the buy-in fee and an expenses-paid trip to Las Vegas courtesy of the leading poker site.

WSOP officials have also clarified regulations regarding third party registrations, with sites still offering services to US online players now barred from registering their players.

However, endorsement rules have been eased, with WSOP commissioner Jeffery Pollack describing the new policy as "far more liberal, accommodating and player-friendly".
