Wasicka wins NBC Heads-Up

2007-03-08 16:16:14

Paul Wasicka has continued his recent spate of good results by winning the NBC Heads-Up Poker Championship in Las Vegas, taking his total earnings for the week to almost $1 million.

Last week Wasicka finished fourth in the LA Poker Classic, taking home $455,615, and secured the $500,000 first prize after seeing off Chad Brown in the final heads-up match-up.

The results came as just the latest notable finishes in what has been a lucrative 12 months for the Australian. Last summer Wasicka finished runner-up in the 2006 World Series of Poker (WSOP).

The knock-out format of the NBC tournament saw Wasicka defeat Nam Lee in the quarter finals and then American Pie actress Shannon Elizabeth in the semi-finals, before beating Brown 2-0 in the best of three final.

Previous winners of the tournament include Ted Forrest and famous poker 'brat' Phil Hellmuth.
