Neteller to return US funds

2007-03-22 17:41:27

E-wallet service Neteller has signed a deal with the US attorney's office for the southern district of New York allowing it to return funds to its American customers.

The agreement will permit Neteller to return winnings that have been frozen since two of its executives were arrested upon their arrival in the US earlier this year.

Within the next 75 days all US customers will receive the money that they are owed, Neteller has said. The company claims that a maximum of $55 million worth of US accounts were seized after the arrests.

"We continue to be committed to returning funds to our US customers and working with the US attorney's office. Progress, while not always visible to the outside observer, has been steady and these agreements mark a milestone in the process," said Neteller president and chief executive Ron Martin.

Earlier this month a Neteller Customer Coalition pressure group was formed in an attempt to recover suspended funds.
