The European Poker Tour (EPT) Grand Finale has been won by US player Gavin Griffin, it has been announced.
Griffin scooped a huge 1,825,010 euros for his efforts, seeing off 705 other players in the process.
Formerly the youngest ever holder of a World Series of Poker (WSOP) Gold Bracelet, Griffin was joined at the final table by the likes of Ram Vaswami of the Hendon Mob and Andy Black, but as chipleader was in a commanding position to begin with.
That had all changed by the time of the heads-up, with Marc Karam holding a 1.4 million chip lead over Griffin. But after 92 hands of head to head action it was Griffin who triumphed after his K5 hit another King on the river.
The win was Griffin's most high-profile placing since his success in the WSOP event on May 14th 2004, when he claimed a gold bracelet and more than a quarter of a million dollars.
