Adeeb secures second Five Star victory

2007-04-23 16:51:25

Poker professional Adeeb Harb has won the Five Star world Poker Classic in Las Vegas for the second consecutive year, it has been revealed.

Adeeb saw 293 other players to win the event just as he had done in 2006, taking home the $500,000 prize for first place in the process &ndash an increase of almost $120,000 on last year's main prize.

The heads-up confrontation saw Harb face Ted Lawson in a hard-fought battle, with Lawson ultimately losing out when the final flop gave Adeeb a pair of Jacks.

Lawson had been ahead going into the heads-up stage but was unable to hold on to his lead as Harb whittled away his chip stack.

Held at the Bellagio, the tournament also saw a win for Anna Wroblewski in event nine. Wroblewski took home over $337,000 in becoming the event's first female champion.

Both Wroblewski and Harb also took home a Bellagio bracelet and a free pass into the WPT Championship.
