A host of big names have entered the World Poker Tour championship main event at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, with a $4 million on offer for the winner.
Poker professionals such as Jeff Madsen, Phil Hellmuth and 2006 World Series of Poker (WSOP) champion Jamie Gold were all on hand during the opening round as play in the $25,000 buy-in event got underway.
However, Madsen joined other famous names such as Men Nguyen and Mike Woo in being eliminated by the end of the first day. However, rising star Anna Wroblewski, who won $337,000 just last week at a separate WPT event, finished the day as chip leader.
Meanwhile, Hellmuth and Gold engaged in a side bet of $5,000 over whether or not Gold would make it to the second day's play, Online-Casinos.org reports. Gold eventually won the bet as well as a further $1,000 relating to his bluffing abilities.
Hellmuth recently launched his own poker school, aimed to help casual and serious players improve their play.
