Tran still ahead in WPT Championship Race

JC Tran still leads the World Poker Tour (WPT) Player of the Year Race with a third of the tournament now having been played, it has been revealed.
In an update on the current standings PokerNews.com reports that Tran continues to make the running following his ascent to the top of the rankings in February, with James Van Alstyne in second place.
Meanwhile Carlos Mortensen's win at the WPT Championship last week sees him elevated to fourth spot, along with Ted Lawson, who while not winning any events did manage to make up the numbers in two final tables over the past month.
PokerNews advises that with two World Series of Poker (WSOP) events in May as well as a new season of the WPT and other events across the world, the potential for unheralded players to make a move up the table still remains.
Last month it was revealed that the WPT had signed a deal with online software provider CryptoLogic regarding the provision of games and other facilities for its new web-based casino.
