Darrel Dicken has maintained the sizeable chip lead that he took into day three of the Mirage Poker Showdown following another intense day of play.
With 40 players left at the start of the day's play, almost half of whom were of little experience, the pressure was on the professionals to live up to their big name billing.
But the likes of Chip Reese, Eric Froehlich and Anh Van Nguyen soon found themselves out of the tournament, with lesser known players like David Peat making early moves.
Cory Carroll built on his win at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) event at Caesar's Palace earlier this month with a brief spell at the top of the pile, before Dicken asserted his dominance.
Dicken fought back to secure a chip lead of almost $500,000 going into the final day.
"I'm going to see what type of gear the players are [playing], and I'm going to go the opposite route," he said at the end of the day's play, according to CardPlayer.com.
