A US gambler has won the first ever South Africa Poker Open, with gambling in the region set for a bright future.
The online gambler triumphed following a tense heads up competition with then chip leader Danny K, meaning that he took home the lucrative prize from the glamorous Montecasino resort in Johannesburg.
That player was Jaime Vilela, a former runner up in the All African event. Vilela went one better this time as he got the better of Danny K &ndash and it took something special to do it.
Four of a kind came up for Vilela in the final hand, giving him a virtually unbeatable position against which Danny had no chance. South African Keiran Reilly took third place.
In total Vilela had seen off 104 other players to claim his share of the $280,000 prize pool.
