2007-06-05 17:44:10

Irishman Ciarin O'Leary has won $727,012 at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Event three.

He defeated previous winner and one of this year's favourites Alex Jacob to win the prize in the $1,500 No Limit Hold'Em event.

Jacob ended up in third place with a prize close to $300,000, while Paul Evans found himself in the runners-up spot.

Jeff Yoak finished fourth with total winnings of $184,152 and Craig Crivello made up the top-five, taking home $128,907 in the process.

The WSOP runs until Monday July 6th at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas' main strip.

Last year's winner of the competition's Main Event Jamie Gold became embroiled in a legal dispute over his $12 million winnings.

It was claimed that he had promised a share of his fortune to Crispin Leyser who took him to court, claiming he was entitled to half of the jackpot.
