Bluff Europe magazine has hailed its Poker in the Park event in London's Leicester Square as a great success.
Hundreds of poker enthusiasts descended upon the city last Friday to take part in a series of play-for-fun tournaments or to brush up on their skills with some free poker tuition.
The event kicked off with Labour Peer Lord Lipsey being presented with a plaque commemorating London as the number one poker destination.
"I am honoured to accept this award on behalf of the city of London," said Lord Lipsey, who is also vice chair of the parliamentary betting and gaming group.
"London has truly established itself as the poker destination in the 21st Century."
He went on to say that the forthcoming Gambling Act "will move the UK in the right direction" when it comes to Britons spending their money "as they wish".
This September will see London hosting the World Series of Poker Europe tournament, which consists of three events.
The largest of these is a six-day tournament spread over three casinos with a prize pool of around £7.5 million.
