'Surprising' results at Everest's qualifiers

2007-07-13 14:30:23

Everest Poker has reported a surprising statistical result in its Japan Cup qualifying events.

According to the online poker room, women have won two of the tournaments, meaning they are now qualified for seats in the finale.

At the end of the live qualifier at Bar Jack in Tokyo, Everest player Marisuke claimed the top spot, while the qualifier in Osaka saw Akemin win her place.

"Statistically, this is quite remarkable," said Jonathan May, Everest Poker's property manager.

"We were aware that the popularity of poker among Japanese women was growing, but having two of the winners so far be female is a testament to their skill."

Marisuke is a video game enthusiast who has been playing poker for nearly a decade, while Akemin is an advertiser who has three years of poker experience.

Everest Poker is the first multi-national, multi-lingual Hold'em poker destination dedicated to bringing together poker enthusiasts from all over the world.
