Recently-crowned World Series of Poker (WSOP) champion Jerry Yang has told the press of how he has succeeded since fleeing his native country and emphasised how much he loves the game.
Following his victory at the No Limit Hold 'em main event, Mr Yang said that poker was a "great opportunity" and it should be promoted and supported as much as possible.
He told the Las Vegas Sun that while some people played for a living, others combined it with a job - but either way it was a good thing.
And of his strategy, he remarked: "I did have some cards at the beginning that really helped me, but there were times I bluffed, too."
Originally from Thailand, Mr Yang now works as a psychologist in California.
He ended up taking home $8.25 million for his achievement.
