The Poker Players Alliance (PPA) has achieved much in the short time since it was established, the group's chairman has commented.
Alfonse D'Amato said that in the past six months, the PPA has grown to include more than 600,000 members and focus on important pieces of gaming legislation.
As a non-profit organisation, the PPA formed to promote the card game and protect players' rights, according to Online Casino News.
Mr D'Amato added that the group has gained a lot of "momentum" since its inception but still needs help from all players.
"Our membership has grown more than 500 per cent since the first of the year to over 600,000 members, thanks in no small part to you telling your fellow poker enthusiasts to join our cause," he concluded.
The PPA recently detailed an interview with Florida congressman Robert Wexler, in which the subject of poker as a game of skill was discussed.
