National poker league begins in London

The UK Open is set to begin in London this summer and will be the starting event of the 2007 World Circuit Tour of the National Poker League (NPL).

The Open will being on August 12th and take place at the famous Loose Cannon Club in London.

Non-club members will have to register 48 hours in advance, in accordance with British Law.

Competitors will be granted "guest membership" status for the tournament.

The final table will be held on August 18th after several preliminary events and related competitions.

The UK Open is this year the first event of the NPL's World Circuit Tour, other stops having been planned for the Phillipines, Australia and the United States, where it will end in early December in Las Vegas.

It will also have television coverage for the first time, sure to draw in greater numbers to the increasingly popular game of poker.

NPL's Television Division will produce 26 one-hour episodes of the qualifying and competitive stages, which are expected to be broadcast to about 100 million households.
